FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prince Rupert, BC (October 4th, 2016) – Business leaders in B.C.’s Northwest will head to the second annual ThriveNorth Mentor Masterclass on October 6th in Prince Rupert to learn how to mentor aspiring entrepreneurs from Ryan Jackson – an award-winning mentor and entrepreneur.
Participants will connect with current and aspiring mentors, hone their communications skills and learn about mentoring strategies.
The event, which is hosted by Futurpreneur Canada and Prince Rupert LNG (the proposed LNG project on Ridley Island), is part of a five-year initiative that aims to inspire and support people aged 18-39 in the region to launch and grow their businesses.
“We have many seasoned entrepreneurs in B.C.’s Northwest and encourage them to share their wealth of knowledge and experience with the next wave of business leaders,” says Julia Deans, CEO of Futurpreneur Canada. “A successful mentoring relationship is fulfilling for both the mentor and the mentee and helps build strong business communities in Canada.”
As an entrepreneur and mentor, Jackson agrees. He has mentored entrepreneurs for the last 13 years and has seen the benefits of mentorship firsthand.
“It’s important for established business leaders to give back to their communities,” Jackson says. “Sometimes people don’t realize how their experiences, challenges and successes can benefit other entrepreneurs.”
After the Mentor Masterclass, ThriveNorth will host an Entrepreneur Marketplace, where business owners, leaders, mentors, and the general public are invited to celebrate new, local small businesses.
Attendees can browse products and services, network, win prizes and discover what the Prince Rupert business community has to offer.
“Northwest B.C. has an extremely vibrant business community,” Deans says. “Our goal is to provide emerging business owners with an outlet to connect with the public and other entrepreneurs.”
The ThriveNorth Mentor Masterclass will take place from noon until 4:00pm on October 6th and the Marketplace will follow from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Both events will be held at the Crest Hotel in Prince Rupert. Interested mentors can register for the Mentor Masterclass here. The fee is $25 and lunch is included. The registration for the Entrepreneur Marketplace is here. The Marketplace is free.
